Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of organisation is Wildlife Preservation Clarence Valley?
Wildlife Preservation Clarence Valley (WPCV) is non-profit, incorporated association in New South Wales, Australia. We are a registered charity with the ACNC (Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission) and have DGR-1 (tax deductible donation) status.
Are donations to WPCV tax deductible?
Yes, as an organisation with DGR-1 status, all donations are tax deductible. After your donation, you will receive a receipt that you can use when filing your taxes.
Does WPCV own the land it acquires?
Protecting the land for generations to come is a critical part of our purpose, and so we’ve researched the best structure for land holding. Along with advice and help from Biodiversity Legacy, we’re creating a separate structure that can hold and protect the land in a Company Limited by Guarantee. The landholding entity will be restricted in its actions in a similar way to WPCV so that it must follow the mission and purpose of WPCV.
How does WPCV actually manage the land it acquires?
WPCV will develop a unique management plan for each property, based on best practice for land management and consultation with the community. The plans will be implemented using local volunteers and contractors. WPCV will monitor and assess all work done to make sure it meets the strategy and delivers the outcomes required to restore, preserve and protect the ecology.
How does land donation actually work?
As each property is different, WPCV will sit down with any potential land donor and understand their wishes for the property and explain in depth the model for donation and future management. Some individuals may donate the land and then remain as residents on the land, while others will bequeath the land in their wills.
Each land donation will require funding to manage that land in the future, so WPCV appreciates any additional funding that can be included with the land to help with future management.
